OPC UA Fundamentals in Mechanical Engineering (virtual)New
Concepts and technologies
OPC UA is an open communication standard for Industry 4.0 and enables interoperability between IT and OT (Operational Technology). OPC UA is also used within machines and between control and IO (Input/Output Systems). For the continuous networking in the application area Industry 4.0 and Industrial Internet of Things, data communication, data presentation and semantics are standardised. OPC UA offers an ideal toolbox for these challenges.
This virtual seminar gives you an overview of the technical possibilities OPC UA offers as a communication platform as well as an introduction to the concepts of OPC UA with regard to the use cases in mechanical and plant engineering.
- Overview and introduction to the concepts of OPC UA
- Communication via client/server architecture
- Communication via pub/sub architecture
- Basis of information modeling
- Overview of OPC UA functionalities (alarms, events, data access, access to historical data, state machines, etc.)
- Practical demonstration of an OPC UA sample application
- Profiles to determine the functionality
- Typical use cases for OPC UA
- IT security and discovery of OPC UA applications
- Information modeling using a practical example
- Overview of OPC UA-based specifications (Companion Specifications)
- 03.11.2020, 08:35 a.m. to 13:00 p.m.
- 04.11.2020, 08:35 a.m. to 13:00 p.m.
There are breaks in between in agreement with the group.
In addition to the theoretical introduction, practical demonstrations of the technology will be given. The seminar will thrive on the questions of the participants.
How do you benefit from this seminar?
You will learn which technical possibilities the communication platform OPC UA offers and how you can use them for your application. You will also learn how to equip your machines for application scenarios in Industry 4.0, secure networking and Plug&Produce.
You can participate in this virtual seminar from the comfort of your desk, regardless of location and without the need to travel. All you need is an internet enabled device.
In addition, you benefit from a reduced participation fee compared to the classroom seminar.
The seminar is targeted at product managers, product owners, technical architects as well as development managers in the areas of research & development, digitalisation, industry 4.0 and decision-makers from middle management. Furthermore, interested system architects and integrators as well as automation engineers can participate.
To participate in our virtual events, the following technical requirements must be met by the participant: Use an internet enabled device and ensure a sufficient Internet connection (no mobile data) as well as a stable sound transmission. Furthermore, we recommend using the browser Chrome for participation.
The Maschinenbau-Institut assumes no liability and does not guarantee that the virtual event can be properly conducted within the specific hardware and software environment of the digital medium used by the participant (PC, tablet, smartphone).
Dr. Ing. Wolfgang Mahnkeis actively involved in the development of OPC UA and has participated in the implementation of OPC UA as software and system architect in various companies. At Unified Automation he consults companies on the implementation of OPC UA. He leads the working group for harmonization of UA-based specifications and is editor of the "OPC UA for Machinery" specification.
